Overview
Due to the pandemic, the formula Mk.5 car was left unfinished. On return to in-person school, the school formula team decided to finish Mk.5 for the FSAE competition.
Being the cockpit subteam lead, I was in charge of finishing the steering and brake systems. While the parts were already designed from the previous year, the parts were either not manufactured completely or assembled incorrectly.

The steering column rods needed a few features to be machined. They required a double-D feature and a blind hole which I made with the mill and lathe. I also worked on the steering rack mount which was off-center. This required the old mounts to be ground off and new mounts to be welded onto the correct position.

The brake system needed to be bled and assembled. There were some minor fixes to the brake pressure sensor and brake over travel switch which were positioned incorrectly.
